From Nurse to Travel Expert: How My Journey Led to Maison d’Amies

If you had told me years ago that I’d be running women-only luxury retreats in France, I probably would have laughed. My career path didn’t start in hospitality or tourism—it started in scrubs. I began my professional journey as a nurse, caring for patients, managing chaotic hospital shifts, and learning how to think on my feet. While nursing was deeply fulfilling, there was always another passion simmering in the background: travel.
How a Side Hustle Became My Calling
While working as a nurse, I found a creative outlet and a second career in travel planning. I started curating trips on the side, helping friends, family, and clients design their dream vacations. I quickly realized that the same skills I used in nursing—attention to detail, anticipating needs, and creating a sense of comfort—translated seamlessly into travel. I loved helping people experience the world, and over time, my side hustle turned into something much bigger.

Bringing a Caregiver’s Touch to Luxury Travel
Nursing taught me how to care for people in some of their most vulnerable moments. That same care and thoughtfulness now guide every aspect of Maison d’Amies. When you join one of my retreats, you’re not just booking a vacation—you’re stepping into an experience that has been meticulously planned to ensure you feel welcomed, cared for, and completely at ease. From hand-selecting boutique accommodations to personally testing every restaurant and excursion, I make sure every detail meets the highest standards (which means, yes, I do have to “sacrifice” by trying all the wine and cheese firsthand!).
Why Maison d’Amies is Different
There’s no shortage of retreats in France, but Maison d’Amies is unique because it’s designed with heart, expertise, and a deep understanding of what makes travel truly special. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter itineraries. Instead, I create intimate, immersive experiences that help you feel like a temporary local, not just a visitor. Whether it’s a private wine tasting in a family-run vineyard, a hands-on cooking class with a local chef, or a leisurely afternoon in a hidden village most tourists never see, every moment is crafted with intention.

More Than a Getaway—A Community
Another thing I brought from my nursing background? The power of connection. Being part of a close-knit team in healthcare showed me the importance of community, and that’s exactly what I’ve built with Maison d’Amies. My retreats aren’t just trips; they’re about forming friendships, sharing experiences, and creating memories that last long after you return home.
Come See for Yourself
If you’re looking for a trip that blends luxury, culture, and connection, I’d love to have you join me on a retreat.
